Hancock: "Where's my chauffeur-driven limousine?"

Matthew Hancock, the Tory MP, who compared himself to Churchill, Pitt and Disraeli, has not taken long to appreciate the perks of being a minister. The 33-year-old economist, who was appointed as Under secretary of State for Business and and Education in the reshuffle, sent a text message to Michael Gove, the Education Secretary, on his first day at work, demanding to know where his chauffeur-driven limousine was.

Gove’s wife, Sarah Vine, who had taken her husband’s iPhone to work by mistake, says she replied: “On my way, sir. My apologies: I was ironing sir’s copy of the FT. Would sir prefer a cappucino or a latte with his croissant this morning?”
