The Shadow Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper has issued the following statement after the fire at the Al-Rahma Islamic Centre:
"The police are investigating the dreadful fire that has destroyed the Al-Rahma Islamic Centre as we speak and if this is confirmed as arson there must be robust action to bring the perpetrators to justice. The reaction of the local people in Muswell Hill has been impressive as those of all faiths and none have united in solidarity with the local Muslim community. There is no place in Britain for violent extremist attacks or hate crimes against any faith or community. I urge anyone with information to come forward and help the investigation."
