Nick Clegg announces half-a-billion pounds investment for the regional growth fund

Today the Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, announced a half-a-billion pounds to invest in more than a hundred businesses across Britain to help them expand and develop ideas. With this money they can employ more staff, train more young people, and help build a stronger economy. Mr Clegg says "this builds on what we have already achieved since the Liberal Democrats came into Government in 2010, we’ve helped businesses create more than a million jobs".

The Liberal Democrats say they are leading an unrelenting focus in the Coalition Government to create a million more jobs. Today’s announcement is the fourth round of the Regional Growth Fund, on top of the £2.5bn we’ve already invested. On the map, you can see which projects the Regional Growth Fund is supporting in your area.

Commenting Nick Clegg said: "I’m determined that Liberal Democrats focus the Coalition Government on building a stronger economy, in a fairer society. That’s why I introduced the Regional Growth Fund, to help rebalance the economy away from Labour’s focus on financial services in the City of London. Today’s announcement has brought that another step closer."
