Boris Johnson now odds-on to stand for Parliament with North West Hampshire favourite seat

London Mayor Boris Johnson is now odds-on to stand for Parliament at the next election according to Ladbrokes. The Tory leader, David Cameron's apparent backing of the idea has sent the odds tumbling with the bookies forced to slash Johnson to just 8/11 (from 3/1 a month ago) to run for a seat in 2015.

Speculation now switches to which seat Johnson will contest and the informed money has seen Sir George Young's Tory stronghold North West Hampshire cut to 3/1 favourite from 16/1. The odds suggest that Johnson will serve his full term as Mayor of London - it's still 3/1 that he decides to step aside from that job - bringing the likes of Richmond Park at 12/1 and Kensington at 20/1 into play. The bookies are yet to take a single bet on Johnson running in any Liveprool seat at 500/1.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: "The message from political punters is clear - Johnson is running for Parliament. All signs point to him being parachuted into Westminster via North West Hampshire."
