Salmond 2/1 for shock Westminster return in 2015

Scotland's outgoing First Minister Alex Salmond is just 2/1 to make a sensational return to Westminster as an MP at next year's general election, according to Ladbrokes.

Speculation is rife that the former Scottish National Party (SNP) leader is considering a run in the Aberdeenshire seat of Gordon. With Malcolm Bruce standing down as MP, the Liberal Democrat majority of just under 7,000 looks vulnerable, with the SNP already favourites to take the constituency.

Matthew Shaddick of Ladbrokes said: "Salmond's got some more time on his hands these days, but we're not totally convinced that he'll be back in Westminster next year."

Ladbrokes' latest betting:
Alex Salmond to win a seat at the 2015 general election: 2/1

Gordon Constituency Betting:
Scottish National Party 4/7
Liberal Democrats 5/2
Labour 6/1

Conservatives 25/1
