BBC response to Siobhan Benita

The Independent candidate for London mayor, Siobhan Benita, appealed the BBC's decision to exclude her from the BBC London mayoral debate on BBC One London last night. In their response the BBC claim that the look at the way candidates and parties have performed in previous elections.

Mrs Benita, left, argues that it is impossible to for her as a new Independent candidate to prove her past performance at previous elections as this is her first time as a candidate. She also argues, correctly, that the mayoral election is about candidates not about parties. The BBC has acknowledged that point.
