If Siobhan Benita doesn't win today....

In the year 2000 an Independent candidate won the first election to become London mayor. Admittedly that candidate was Ken Livingstone and no one wants to go back to him. But as London has elected an Independent before we can do so again and I believe its now time to do so again.

A lot of people want something new in politics and Siobhan Benita is a chance of something new. Not a party apparatchik or a yes man or in her case yes woman, just an ordinary Londoner who wants to make the whole of London better. Not just Inner London with Ken or outer London with Boris.

The other four candidates really have no real plan to get London moving forward. So the choice is a simple one -- the old party politics of Boris & Ken or a chance of something new, a fresh politics and real and lasting change for all Londoners regardless of where you live.

Siobhan Benita has conducted her campaign without the macho mud-slinging and immature name calling we've seen from the party candidates. Her campaign has been clean, honest and upfront. Ms Benita doesn't claim to have all of the answers to sort out London's problems but she will work with professionals, take advice from others and as a former civil servant is best placed to get more money out of the Treasury for London as she knows how the system works.

Siobhan Benita will make the case for a third runway at Heathrow to ensure London remains in first place for the place to do business on the world stage. A third runway will be a fraction of the cost of the "abhorrent and ill thought through" Boris island. - thats the view of Conservative MPs by the way.

Its not often when a someone with real conviction comes along as an option to vote for. Mrs Thatcher and Mr Blair whether you agree with their politics most people admit they're politicians of real conviction, who knew what they wanted to do, Siobhan Benita is in this mould. She hasn't told lies to get attention, she hasn't started swearing at people - she's simply put forward a workable programme for London and to make the lives of Londoners better.

So when you're in the polling booth today vote for the candidate who will unite rather than divide London. Vote for the candidate who will improve London's education system, who will work with government to get investment into the capital, who will deliver value for money for the taxpayer - vote Siobhan Benita for mayor of London.
