Green Party Oxfordshire County Council Candidates in the May elections include three former Labour Councillors, an ex-world bank economist, numerous charity workers and volunteers, a former Lord Mayor, an ex-Cabinet Office civil servant, many teachers, academics and university workers, several retired senior Council staff, a number of organic farmers, a church minister, numerous business consultants, and several gigging musicians, artists and performers.
Oxford's first Green Party councillor, Caroline Lucas, now MP for Brighton, said: "It's 20 years since I won the first Council seat in Oxford and since then we've gone on to win more Council seats and built a strong group of Councillors. I'm proud of the many things our Oxford Councillors have achieved over the years, but there is much more to be done to make Oxford a fairer, more sustainable City. Together we can win".
Following the last time Oxfordshire's council seats were up for election in 2009, the political make up of the council, which is Conservative controlled, was as follows:
Conservative 52
Liberal Democrat 10
Labour 9
Green 2
Independent 1
Polling day is May 2nd and the entire council is up for election.
