Green "real opposition" ad removed at Labour conference

Labour Party members attending their conference in Brighton this weekend were welcomed by a billboard advert making the case that Green MP Caroline Lucas is offering the "real opposition" in parliament. Having placed the ad in "good faith", and having been reassured that it "broke no rules", its since emerged that it has now been taken down.

Rob Shepherd, Chair of Brighton and Hove Green Party, said: "
As recently as this morning, we’d been reassured that there were no restrictions on political messages on the billboard, and that no rules at all had been broken. Community Base are a fantastic organisation, and we’re disappointed that someone apparently felt the need to put them under pressure."

Concluding Mr Shepherd said: "This was a light-hearted advert, but clearly it hit a nerve. In any case, it was factually correct, and we were very pleased to be able to tell Labour delegates that their party is down the hill and on the right."

The Greens have put their ad on Youtube and can be viewed there.
